A man has been charged with a string of offences following a burglary in Tipton where industrial shutter doors were rammed and a significant quantity of cable was stolen.
Dramatic Incident on Golds Hill Way
West Midlands Police were alerted to a premises on Golds Hill Way in Tipton at 4.15pm on Sunday, January 4, after an intruder alarm was triggered. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the property's shutter doors had been forcibly rammed. The suspect had made off with large quantities of cable from the address.
Dangerous Pursuit and Swift Arrest
The police response was rapid. A vehicle linked to the incident was soon spotted by officers. The driver of this car then embarked on a dangerous drive, reportedly going through red traffic lights and driving on the incorrect side of the road in a bid to escape.
Despite the reckless driving, the suspect's freedom was short-lived. The Sandwell police response team managed to locate and arrest a man within just 15 minutes of attending the initial burglary report.
Multiple Charges Laid Before Court
The arrested man was identified as Daniel Kowolik, aged 35, of Brierley Hill. He has been charged with a catalogue of serious offences.
The charges he faces include:
- Burglary other than a dwelling with intent to steal
- Dangerous driving
- Failing to stop for police
- Driving while disqualified
- Driving with no insurance
- Driving with no licence
- Forging a vehicle registration document
Kowolik was remanded in custody and was due to make his first appearance before Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on Monday, January 5.
