A 27-year-old man is facing a series of serious charges following a reported burglary and assault in the quiet Staffordshire village of Brewood, which left one man hospitalised with a head injury.

Violent Incident on Quiet Village Road

Staffordshire Police were called to an address on Kiddemore Green Road in Brewood at approximately 1:10 pm on Saturday, January 3. The call related to reports of an assault occurring during a suspected burglary.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that a man had been injured during the alleged break-in. He was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment of a head injury, where he remains. A second man and a woman were also reportedly assaulted during the incident, but sustained only minor injuries.

Suspect Charged and Remanded in Custody

Masood Ahmady, 27, of Dudley, was arrested in connection with the incident. He has since been charged with a total of six offences. The charges are:

  • Section 18 – grievous bodily harm with intent
  • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm
  • Two counts of assault by beating
  • Burglary
  • Possession of a controlled Class B drug (cannabis)

Following an alleged assault on a police officer while in custody – an officer who remained on duty uninjured – Ahmady appeared at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Tuesday, January 6. He was remanded and is next scheduled to appear at Stafford Crown Court on Friday, February 6.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police confirmed the details of the case and the charges brought against Ahmady. The force has stated that officers are continuing to provide a visible presence in the local area to offer reassurance to residents following the disturbing event in the typically peaceful village.
