A 66-year-old man has tragically died after being struck by a car while walking through a supermarket car park in Edinburgh. The fatal incident occurred in the Tesco car park located on Meadow Place Road at approximately 9am on Wednesday morning.

The collision involved a blue Volkswagen Polo and the pedestrian, who was walking through the car park at the time. Following the impact, the man was airlifted by a specialist ambulance helicopter to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. Despite the rapid response and efforts of medical personnel, he passed away a short time later.

His family has been informed of his death, and police have confirmed that no other injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The specific area of the car park where the collision took place was closed to allow for a thorough investigation by authorities. It was reopened at 1.20pm on the same day.
