Midland Rapist Who Blamed Victim Jailed 10 Years

A rapist who repeatedly attacked a woman at her Midland home and claimed she 'made everything up' has been jailed for 10 years. Alexander Jesus, 23, from Leamington Spa, was convicted of rape, sexual assault, and assault by penetration following a five-day trial at Warwick Crown Court.

Details of the Attack

The offences took place at the victim's home in March 2024. The woman bravely reported the crimes to a Sexual Abuse Referral Centre and subsequently to Warwickshire Police. Despite overwhelming evidence, Jesus denied the charges and alleged the victim had fabricated the entire account.

Trial and Sentencing

A jury unanimously found Jesus guilty of all counts. At Coventry Crown Court on Thursday, May 7, the judge identified him as a violent sexual offender and handed down a 10-year prison sentence, followed by an extended four-year licence period. He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders' Register for life.

Police Statement

Investigating officer Det Con Donna Parry praised the survivor's courage: 'I would like to commend the survivor in this case for her bravery in coming forward and for her commitment to the investigation. Her strength and courage are remarkable, and while I know no sentence will undo the damage he's done, I hope it goes some way to helping her rebuild her life.' She added, 'I don't underestimate how difficult it can be to report rape and sexual assault, but we will do everything we can to secure justice for you.'

Support for Victims

A Warwickshire Police spokesperson encouraged other victims to come forward: 'Anyone who has been the victim of a rape or a sexual offence is encouraged to report the incident to police, where specially trained officers will help victims with care and sensitivity, and will work to get the right result for them with their wishes in mind. Alternatively, there are many agencies you can approach, including Safeline, who offer information, guidance, and other support.'
