New Photo of Pub Boss Released as Police Seek Life-Savers

Staffordshire Police have released a new photograph of tragic pub boss Matt O’Gara as they appeal for witnesses who provided advanced life support before his death.

Fatal Assault Outside Lichfield Bar

Officers were called to the Ricco and Loren bar on Market Street in Lichfield at 11.25pm on Sunday, May 24, following reports that a man had been punched. Matt O’Gara, 31, director of The Plough pub in Huddlesford, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries but died two days later on May 26.

A second man was also assaulted; he was treated at hospital and discharged shortly after.

Appeal for Witnesses

Police are particularly keen to speak to anyone who administered advanced life support to Matt at the scene. Detective Inspector Adrian Taylor said: “We are appealing for any witnesses we have not already spoken to after a man who was seriously assaulted in Lichfield last month sadly died. We are especially keen to speak to those who gave Matt advanced life support.”

Charges Filed

Billy Allison, 36, from Solihull, an activist with the flagging group Raise the Colours, has been charged with murder and Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent. He appeared at Stafford Crown Court and is due to return on September 1.

Matt’s family continue to be supported by specialist officers. Anyone with information is urged to contact police via the online portal or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
