Detectives have launched an arson investigation following a serious fire at a house in Wolverhampton. The incident occurred on Wendover Road on the evening of Saturday, January 17.
Emergency Response to Nighttime Blaze
Emergency services were alerted to the fire at just after 9.50pm. Four fire crews from West Midlands Fire Service rushed to the scene to battle the flames. The fire service issued a public warning via social media platform X, urging people to avoid the area while crews worked.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police confirmed the force was treating the incident as a deliberate act. "We were called following a fire at an address in Wendover Road," the force stated. "Damage was caused to the property but no-one was injured. We're carrying out further enquiries but at this stage it is being treated as arson."
Scene Secured for Investigation
Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control by approximately 4am on Sunday, January 18. The property sustained significant damage. By morning, a police cordon had been erected around the scene as detectives and fire investigators began their work to establish the exact cause.
The fire service's control room provided details of the operational response, confirming the cause remains under active investigation. "We arrived at 9.50pm last night to a house fire," a spokesperson told BirminghamLive. "The cause is under investigation. We had four crews at the scene during the height of the incident."
