Detectives searching for a missing 82-year-old man have made a grim discovery, finding a second man dead at a farm in the Midlands.
Body Discovered During Search
Officers were called to an address off the A1133 in Langford, near Newark, Nottinghamshire, shortly after 10.15am on Saturday, November 22. During their inquiries, they discovered the body of a 52-year-old man in an outbuilding at Hall Farm.
While the death is not being treated as suspicious, police have confirmed they believe it is linked to the disappearance of Brian Wright, 82, who was reported missing from the same area on Thursday, November 20.
Homicide Investigation Launched
Following the discovery and after receiving what was described as 'intelligence indicating he was deceased', detectives have now launched a homicide investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr Wright's disappearance.
Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow, of Nottinghamshire Police, stated: "First and foremost, our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of those affected by this tragic incident."
Community Reassurance and Appeal
DCI Burrow moved to reassure the public, saying, "However, I’d like to reassure members of the community that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident. At this early stage, we believe all parties to be known to each other and there is no wider threat to the public."
The family members of those involved are being supported by specially trained officers. The force has also made a mandatory referral to the IOPC due to previous contact officers had with the family.
Police remain in the Langford area carrying out inquiries and have urged anyone with information to come forward. If you can assist, please call 101, quoting incident number 193 of November 22, 2025, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
