Three arrested after 61-year-old man dies in Mansfield

Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 61-year-old man at a property in the Midlands.

Emergency Response and Arrests

Officers and emergency services were called to an address on Mappleton Drive in Mansfield at approximately 7.20pm on Tuesday, December 16. Despite the efforts of paramedics, the man, who was found at a flat, could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a swift development, three men, aged 20, 20, and 22, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. All three remain in police custody for questioning as the investigation intensifies.

Ongoing Police Investigation

A police cordon remains in place at the property while forensic examinations and inquiries continue. Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that the victim's family has been informed and is receiving support from specially trained officers.

The force also stated that other scenes in the local area have been secured as part of the wider investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Appeal for Information from the Public

Leading the inquiry, Detective Inspector Clare Gibson of the East Midlands Operational Support Unit (EMSOU) major crime team emphasised the early stage of the probe.

"We have a dedicated team of officers, detectives, and specialists working to understand the circumstances of this incident," said DI Gibson. "Whilst three suspects are in custody, we remain in the early stages of our inquiries and would ask that anyone with information that could assist us to please come forward."
