Two men have been taken into custody following a dramatic police pursuit through the streets of Tipton in the Black Country. The incident, which saw a car driven dangerously through red traffic lights, culminated in arrests and the discovery of suspected drugs.

Chase Through the Streets

The episode began when a vehicle failed to stop for police officers in Tipton. A pursuit was initiated, during which the car was observed being driven at speed and going through red lights in a dangerous manner. The chase came to an end in the early hours of Thursday, January 8, when the vehicle stopped on New Road.

Following the stop, officers conducted a search of the car. This led to the recovery of a quantity of what are believed to be Class A and Class B drugs. Further police checks revealed that the vehicle was suspected to be connected to the theft of another vehicle in Halesowen during December.

A 20-year-old man from West Bromwich was arrested on suspicion of multiple offences. These include theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop, dangerous driving, possession of Class A and Class B drugs, and driving while under the influence of drugs.

A second man, aged 25 and from Birmingham, was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of Class A and B drugs. Both men remain in police custody for questioning, a spokesperson for West Midlands Police confirmed.

The force reiterated its stance on such crimes. A statement read: "Vehicle crime is a priority for us in Dudley and our officers are working hard to identify and prosecute anyone involved in committing such crimes."
