Two women have been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire damaged two properties in Wolverhampton. The incident occurred on Mount Road on Friday night, August 14, and emergency services were alerted just before 7.15pm.
The suspects, aged 36 and 56, were taken into custody and remained there for questioning on Saturday afternoon, August 15. Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire, according to West Midlands Police.
Police Statement on Arrests
In a statement, West Midlands Police confirmed the arrests and detailed the response. The force said: "Two women have been arrested after a house fire in Wolverhampton last night. Just before 7.15pm, we received reports of a house and garden fire on Mount Road. Damage was caused to two properties. Thankfully no one was injured."
Following enquiries, the two women, aged 36 and 56, were arrested on suspicion of arson. They remain in custody for questioning as the investigation continues.

The police statement also highlighted broader efforts across the region. It added: "Across the West Midlands, we continue to support West Midlands Fire Service and other partners who are dealing with several fires. Our thoughts remain with affected communities."
The fire on Mount Road is among a number of incidents being handled by emergency services in the area. West Midlands Police have not released further details about the cause of the fire or the condition of the properties at this stage.
