A Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) covering the Shifnal and Albrighton area sent a message to local residents, stating: "We are reminding motorists to take extra care when encountering horses on our roads following a recent incident in the local area which resulted in a rider sustaining minor injuries."
The PCSO added: "Horses can be unpredictable when frightened, and vehicles approaching too quickly, passing too closely, or making sudden loud noises can cause them to react unexpectedly. This can place riders, drivers and other road users at risk."
Key advice for drivers when passing horses
The police have issued a list of recommendations for drivers when they encounter horses on the road. These include:
- Slow down and approach with caution
- Give horses plenty of room when passing
