West Midlands Police are continuing their search for two murder suspects who remain at large, with detectives urging the public to call 999 immediately if they have any information. Dahir Ali, 29, and Zachariah Liburd, 22, are wanted in connection with two separate fatal stabbings in the region, and despite extensive efforts, their whereabouts remain unknown.
Dahir Ali: Wanted over Lozells Killing
Dahir Ali has been on the run for almost two years following the death of Ekrimh Mena'a in Lozells in September 2024. Mena'a, aged 39, was stabbed to death near the junction of Hunters Road and Villa Road shortly after midnight, in what police described as "disorder." Ali was identified as a key suspect, and a manhunt was launched, but he evaded capture despite other arrests in the case.
Detectives have made numerous public appeals to trace Ali, but the trail has gone cold. They continue to appeal for information, stating last year: "Have you seen Dahir Ali? He is wanted on suspicion of murder." They added: "If you see him or know of his whereabouts please call 999 immediately quoting 20/885260/24."
Zachariah Liburd: Prime Suspect in Acocks Green Murder
Zachariah Liburd is wanted over a separate murder in Acocks Green. Chris Ikouara, 19, was fatally stabbed at an address on Olton Boulevard East on January 13. The teenager was described as "caring" and "deeply-cherished," and his death devastated his family. Liburd was named as the prime suspect, and his photo was released to the public, but he has not been found.
A £10,000 Crimestoppers reward was offered to encourage people with information to come forward, and an appeal was also broadcast on BBC's Crimewatch. Detective Chief Inspector Phil Poole said: "If you know where Liburd is or have any information, please get in touch. You don’t need to speak to us, you can speak to the independent charity Crimestoppers and remain completely anonymous. Any information given to them and us will be treated in complete confidence. You might think your information is irrelevant, but it could make a difference."
Ongoing Appeals and Public Assistance
West Midlands Police have expressed frustration over the inability to apprehend these suspects, despite round-the-clock detective work. Most murder suspects are quickly caught, but these cases remain open. The force continues to appeal to the public for any information that could lead to the arrests of Ali and Liburd, emphasizing the importance of immediate action by calling 999.
