Police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing in Norton Canes that left a woman with potentially life-threatening injuries. The incident occurred this morning (Friday, July 3) at a house on Hawthorn Drive.
Woman rushed to hospital after stabbing
Staffordshire Police were called at 8:50am to reports that a woman had been stabbed by a man inside the property. The suspect then fled the scene. Emergency services attended and the victim was rushed to hospital for treatment.
A force spokesperson said: "We have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was stabbed in Norton Canes. We were called at 8.50am this morning to reports a woman had been stabbed by a man inside a house on Hawthorn Drive. The man then left the house."
Suspect arrested in Bloxwich
Officers quickly located and arrested a 49-year-old man from Bloxwich in the Bloxwich area on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
Police are appealing for anyone with information, including CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage, to come forward. The force spokesperson added: "If you have any information that can help us, including CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage, call 101, quoting incident 201 of 3 July. Community urged to assist
Detectives are working to establish the circumstances leading up to the stabbing. Residents in the Hawthorn Drive area have been advised to check their security cameras for any relevant footage. The investigation is ongoing.
