Doncaster Mosque Honoured as Finalist for Prestigious Edlington Community Award
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Doncaster, based at Baitul Baseer Mosque in Edlington, has achieved a significant milestone by being named a finalist for the Pride of Edlington Awards in the Cultural Contribution Award category this year. This recognition underscores the association's unwavering dedication to serving the local community and fostering social cohesion across Edlington and the wider borough.
Community Leader Expresses Gratitude and Humility
Upon learning of the nomination, Bilal Mahmood, president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Doncaster, shared the community's profound appreciation. "We are deeply grateful for this nomination," said Mr. Mahmood. "There are some wonderful individuals, organisations, and communities working tirelessly day and night in the service of people across our town, and being listed as one of the finalists is truly humbling. To be considered alongside them is an honour in itself."
Faith-Driven Commitment to Service
Mr. Mahmood emphasised that the community's efforts are deeply rooted in its religious beliefs. "Our commitment to serving others is a core teaching of our Islam," he explained. "We are continuously guided by the example and instructions of our worldwide head, His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, who urges us to be loyal citizens and to be at the forefront of serving our neighbours and our nation." This principle of 'Love for All, Hatred for None' motivates various initiatives, including charitable collections, interfaith outreach, and community clean-up projects.

Looking ahead, the association views this nomination not as an endpoint but as an encouragement to deepen its local engagement. "We plan to continue to serve this town and its people as per the teachings of Islam taught to us by Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad," Mr. Mahmood affirmed. "Our work is a permanent part of our faith, and we remain committed to strengthening our partnerships and supporting all residents of Edlington and beyond, irrespective of background or belief. This recognition strengthens our resolve to contribute positively to the area we are proud to call home."
