New Book Unveils 500 Years of Wollaton Park's Heritage and Natural Beauty
The Wollaton Historical and Conservation Society has proudly published a new book dedicated to Wollaton Park, authored by Colin Robbins. As a dedicated volunteer ranger at the park and vice chair of the Friends of Wollaton Park, Colin collaborated with local historian Andrew Hamilton to bring this comprehensive work to life. The book was officially launched by the Sheriff of Nottingham during a special reception held at Wollaton Hall, where Colin also delivered an engaging talk to attendees.
Filling a Historical Gap with Rich Content
This publication marks a significant milestone, as the last book focused solely on Wollaton Park was released back in 1996. The new volume effectively bridges this gap, offering an updated and detailed record of local history. Spanning 36 pages, the book is richly illustrated with full-colour photographs, detailed maps, and architectural plans, providing a vivid visual journey through the park's evolution.
The content delves into over 500 years of Wollaton Park's history, from its early beginnings to its current status as a beloved community space. Additionally, it highlights the diverse flora and fauna that thrive within the park today, encouraging readers to appreciate and explore the natural environment. Priced at £9, the book is an accessible resource for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
