Households in Nottingham are being urged to act quickly to apply for a new round of financial support, with 1,000 energy vouchers worth £98 each up for grabs. The crucial deadline for applications is midnight on Sunday, 11 January 2026.
Key Details of the Voucher Scheme
This support is made possible through the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Household Support Fund. Nottingham City Council is administering the scheme, which forms part of a wider £1.5 million package of supermarket and energy vouchers intended to provide extra support over the winter months.
In a significant change from previous rounds, the council has confirmed that vouchers are no longer awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Instead, all eligible residents who apply within the application window will have an equal chance of receiving one of the 1,000 available vouchers.
Who Can Apply and Important Dates
The council has outlined clear eligibility rules for this application period. Residents can apply again even if they have already received an energy voucher earlier in the year or are awaiting one from the November 2025 issue. This also applies to those who have received a supermarket voucher.
However, if you applied in December 2025, you are not eligible to apply in this round, as that was considered part of 'Round 2'. Successful applicants should be aware that it may take until 28 February 2026 to receive the £98 energy voucher. The council has stated it cannot answer queries about vouchers until after this date.
For those who are unsuccessful, a further opportunity will arise. Applications for both energy and supermarket vouchers will reopen from 2 February 2026 until midnight on 8 February 2026.
How to Get Help with Your Application
Nottingham City Council says it has improved the application process to enable more people to apply. They advise residents who struggle to apply online to first ask family or friends for assistance. Alternatively, they can contact local community organisations which may be able to provide support and help with the application.
This initiative underscores the ongoing pressure from the cost of living crisis and the targeted measures being deployed at a local level to help struggling households manage their essential energy costs this winter.
