Ann Widdecombe Death Timeline: Last Message 11 Min Before Attack

Police investigating the death of former MP and MEP Ann Widdecombe have established a detailed timeline, with her last message sent just 11 minutes before the suspected attack. The ex-Tory prisons minister was allegedly attacked at her Devon home almost 24 hours before her body was discovered on Thursday morning (July 9) at 11.40am by paramedics.

Key Timeline of Events

Officers are working on the assumption that the attack occurred at 12.30pm on Wednesday. Messages sent by Ms Widdecombe are central to the investigation. A Channel 5 researcher reportedly received a message from her at 12.19pm on Wednesday, ahead of a scheduled interview at 1pm. The researcher then messaged her at 12.48pm to confirm the interview, and she was also asked to join a Zoom link at the same time, but received no response, according to ITV News.

Police Investigation and Suspect Search

Police confirmed they are still searching for a white male suspect. Yesterday, Sir Keir Starmer said the suspect was 'clearly dangerous'. Officers have been searching hedgerows near the home in Haytor today as investigations continue 'at pace'. Assistant Chief Constable Matt Longman stated: 'We do not believe there is a wider risk to the public.' He added: 'Our inquiries are moving at pace for a suspect who is believed to be a white male.'
