Julian Donaldson, a 40-year-old father of two from Bordesley Green, was told to 'turn his life around' for the sake of his children after admitting to stealing £100 worth of laundry products from a Farmfoods store in Halesowen. The incident occurred on April 4, 2026, when Donaldson was seen placing the items into his coat and leaving without paying.
Court Appearance and Sentencing
At Birmingham Magistrates Court on July 21, 2026, Donaldson pleaded guilty to theft. The court heard that he has struggled with Class A drug addiction for most of his adult life. In mitigation, his solicitor, Ms. Ellis, stated that Donaldson has been drug-free for three months and now works part-time as a cleaner in Lichfield.
Ms. Ellis added that his sobriety has allowed him to reconnect with his 18-year-old child, and he also has a one-year-old child. Donaldson expressed a desire to 'turn his life around' for his children.
Conditional Discharge and Costs
Donaldson, who receives Universal Credit, was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £211 in costs. The magistrates warned that any further offenses within that period would likely result in a prison sentence.
The chairman of the magistrates told Donaldson: 'We are minded to assist you to turn your life around. This is hopefully your last visit to court. We wish you well in turning your life around and being there for your children.'
