Two men from Birmingham have been jailed as part of a four-strong gang that carried out two terrifying machete raids on family homes in Coventry last summer. Mohammed Ramirez, 26, of Kenilworth Road, Aston, and Sebastian Kandrac, 20, of Normandy Road, Aston, alongside Nathan Evans and Junior Yawli, were sentenced for aggravated burglary after a series of armed home invasions that left residents traumatised.
Details of the Raids
The gang first struck at 1am on July 23, 2025, smashing their way into a home in Earlsdon, Coventry. They threatened the occupants with a machete but fled when a resident called 999. Less than an hour later, they targeted another home in Wyken, where they punched a man and demanded money. The gang stole kitchen knives, a games console, and two cars before escaping.
Police Pursuit and Arrests
West Midlands Police armed officers tracked the gang after a helicopter spotted the stolen vehicles. A pursuit ensued, during which one car drove the wrong way down the A446. The four men were eventually arrested and charged.
Sentences Handed Down
Three of the men were jailed last Wednesday. Ramirez received nine years, Evans was sentenced to six years and six months, and Yawli received 11 years and two months. Kandrac is awaiting sentencing.
Detective Sergeant Jay Aston said: "These individuals brought terror to the doorsteps of innocent residents, brandishing weapons without a second thought."

The raids have left the victims deeply shaken, with one householder describing the ordeal as "the worst night of our lives." The sentences have been welcomed by local residents, who hope they serve as a deterrent.
