Dunelm Recalls Electric Blankets Over Fire Risk

Dunelm has issued an urgent recall for six of its Cosy & Warm Electric Blanket models due to a serious fire risk. The affected products, from 2022 and 2023 batches, contain a faulty copper wire inside the cable that could cause overheating and fire. Customers are urged to stop using the blankets immediately and contact Dunelm for a free replacement cable or a full refund.

Which Products Are Affected?

The recall covers specific barcode and article numbers for single, double, and king-size blankets. The Office for Product Safety & Standards confirmed the issue: the copper wire in the cable does not meet the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. Affected items include:

  • Dunelm Cosy & Warm Electric Blanket Single – 5057722358976 – 30652063
  • Dunelm Cosy & Warm Electric Blanket Double – 5057722358983 – 30652064
  • Dunelm Cosy & Warm Electric Blanket King – 5057722358990 – 30652065

What Customers Should Do

The Office for Product Safety & Standards advised: "If your product has the barcode and batch numbers specified, stop using it immediately and contact Dunelm on 0333 234 0870 to claim a free replacement cable. Alternatively, return the blanket and cable to your nearest Dunelm for a full refund." Dunelm is initiating a cable replacement programme for affected customers. The retailer reassured that all other blankets with different batch numbers are safe to use. The recall affects only 2022 and 2023 batches, and customers are encouraged to check their product labels carefully.
