An elderly couple in their 80s were subjected to a terrifying home invasion in Blackheath, prompting a police investigation. The incident occurred at their residence on Devonshire Road on the evening of January 15, 2025.
Details of the Attack
According to West Midlands Police, two male suspects forced entry into the home around 7:30 PM. The intruders assaulted the 85-year-old man and his 82-year-old wife, causing injuries that required hospital treatment. The victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and have since been discharged.
The suspects stole a quantity of cash and jewellery before fleeing the scene. Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, from West Midlands Police's CID, described the attack as 'a despicable crime' and appealed for witnesses.
Police Investigation and Appeal
Police have launched a manhunt for the two suspects, described as white males in their 20s, wearing dark clothing and balaclavas. They were last seen running towards the nearby canal.
“This was a violent and distressing incident for an elderly couple in their own home,” said DI Colclough. “We are doing everything we can to trace those responsible and bring them to justice.”

Councillor for the Blackheath ward, Jane Smith, said: “This is a close-knit community, and we are all appalled by what happened. We are working with police to ensure the safety of our residents.”
