A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a three-year-old girl was found dead at a property in Chertsey, Surrey. Officers from Surrey Police were called to an address on Pyrcroft Road at approximately 5:40 PM on 25 June following reports of a concern for safety. Upon arrival, they discovered the child deceased inside the semi-detached house.
Arrest and Hospitalisation
The man, who was found at the scene with a serious injury, was arrested on suspicion of murder and subsequently taken to hospital for treatment. Police confirmed he will be taken into custody once medically cleared. A force spokesperson stated: "A murder investigation has been launched after a child's body was discovered in Chertsey earlier this evening."
Police Statement on Incident
Senior Investigating Officer from the Major Crime Team said: "This is a tragic incident, and our officers are working hard to build a picture of what happened. We have made an arrest in connection with this incident and at this stage, we are not looking to identify anyone else in connection with our investigation. We have no reason to believe there is any risk to the public."
