The woman's bank cards were subsequently used at shops in the city centre, and detectives have released images of a suspect they wish to speak to.

The fraud occurred earlier in 2026, though police have not disclosed the exact date or the amount of money stolen. The suspect is believed to have posed as a courier or official to deceive the elderly victim into handing over her bank cards. The cards were then used at multiple retail locations in Birmingham city centre.

Police Appeal

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We want to speak to this man after an elderly woman was a victim of courier fraud in Birmingham. Her bank cards were then used at shops in the city centre earlier this year. We've been carrying out enquiries and want to identify this man."

The force has released two images of the man, who is described as wearing casual clothing in the photographs. Anyone who recognises him is urged to come forward.
