James Moore, a prisoner at HMP Featherstone, has been sentenced to an additional 12 years in prison after throwing a kettle of hot water over a fellow inmate. The attack occurred in October 2024, leaving the 31-year-old victim with significant burns that required hospital treatment.

Moore, 35, now held at HMP Dovegate, threw the boiling water at the victim who was sitting on a chair at the time. The victim suffered severe burns across his body, necessitating medical attention outside the prison.
Court Proceedings
Moore was found guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent at Stafford Crown Court. On Wednesday, July 22, he was sentenced to 12 years, to run consecutively to a nine-year extended sentence imposed at Bristol Crown Court in January 2023 for the same offence.

We are pleased with the sentence imposed, as it reflects the severity and seriousness of the offence. It also recognises the danger that Moore continues to present to society.”
