Three men are set to appear in court after a car allegedly stolen from Solihull was tracked by police along the M6 in Staffordshire.
Arrests and charges
West Midlands Police responded to a report of a vehicle taken from an address in the borough in the early hours of Saturday, May 24. The stolen car was monitored as it travelled down the M6 into Staffordshire, where officers stopped it and arrested three individuals.
In a statement, West Midlands Police said: "We've charged three men in connection with vehicle crime after pursuing a stolen car on the M6. We received a report of a car being stolen in the Solihull area in the early hours of Sunday morning (24 May). The vehicle was tracked to Staffordshire where it was stopped by road traffic officers."
Details of the accused
Following the initial detention of two men, further investigative work by Solihull CID led to charges against Yusuf Mowlana, aged 39 from Salford. He has been charged with going equipped for theft of a motor vehicle, theft of a motor vehicle, and possession of Class B drugs.
Sharif Bana, aged 43 from Manchester, has been charged with going equipped for theft of a motor vehicle, theft of a motor vehicle, driving whilst disqualified, and using a motor vehicle with third party insurance.
Enquiries also led to the arrest of 38-year-old Mubidi Kassim from London on Sunday. He has been charged with going equipped for theft of a motor vehicle and theft of a motor vehicle.
Court appearance
All three men have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear before Birmingham Crown Court on Monday, June 22.
