A 21-year-old mother has died from severe burns sustained in a house fire on Australia's Sunshine Coast, leaving her family devastated and her infant son to grow up without her. Isabella Nicholls escaped the blaze at a unit complex in Buderim around 7:30pm on Sunday, July 19, but succumbed to her injuries while being treated at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.

In a statement on a GoFundMe page set up to cover funeral expenses, Nicholls' family expressed their profound grief. 'Isabella was a devoted and loving mother to her beautiful baby boy, Elijah, who will now grow up without his mummy,' they wrote. 'Our family is absolutely shattered by this unimaginable loss, and the heartbreak is beyond words.' They described her as 'a vibrant, kind, and beautiful soul with her whole life ahead of her' and noted her 'smile that could light up any room and a contagious laugh that none of us will ever forget.'
Police Investigation Underway
Queensland Police are investigating the cause of the fire, which remains unknown. Emergency services were called to the King Street address after reports that one unit was fully engulfed in flames. A 32-year-old woman was also injured in the incident but survived. Police have urged anyone with information, CCTV footage, or dashcam recordings to come forward. A spokesperson said: 'The cause of the fire remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing. Anyone who may have relevant information or CCTV/dashcam footage to come forward.'
