Cefn Community Council has today paid tribute to Andrew Ruscoe, who is leaving his position as Community Development Officer to take up a new role with The New Saints Football Club.
Three Years of Service
Andrew has served the council and wider community over the last three years, helping to deliver a wide range of projects, partnerships and community initiatives across Cefn Mawr, Rhosymedre, Plas Madoc, Newbridge, Penybryn and Acrefair.
During his time in post, Andrew has supported many initiatives, including the #StayOnSide school engagement programme, community sports competitions, futsal development, CV writing sessions, Warm and Cool Spaces sessions, environmental projects, hedgehog and swift conservation, community garden work, school Olympics events, and wider support for residents and local organisations.
Ongoing Projects
Cefn Community Council is also awaiting the outcome of several key projects and applications Andrew has helped to develop or complete. These include the installation of six new community notice boards, potential National Forest for Wales recognition, Wales in Bloom activity, and the Pride in Place funding application.
Tribute from the Chairman
Chairman of Cefn Community Council, Mr Phil Vaughan, said: “On behalf of Cefn Community Council, we would like to thank Andrew for everything he has done for the council and the community.”
“We do not want him to leave, but we fully understand his decision. He has been presented with an opportunity from The New Saints Football Club and its owner, Mr Mike Harris, that he simply could not turn down.”
“Andrew has brought energy, creativity, passion and commitment to the role. He has helped deliver projects that have made a real difference to residents, schools, young people, older people and community groups across our area.”
“While we are sad to see him go, we are proud of what he has achieved here, and we wish him every success in his new role. We hope that many of the projects he has worked so hard on will now come to fruition as a lasting parting gift to this community.”
New Chapter
Andrew will now join The New Saints Football Club, whose owner Mr Mike Harris is the subject of the documentary The New Saints: Road To Europe – The Mike Harris Story, which is now available to watch free on YouTube.
Cefn Community Council has thanked Andrew for his service and wished him well as he begins the next chapter of his career.
