A remarkable appeal has been launched to ensure a former champion ballroom dancer from Cheshire receives a spectacular send-off for her 102nd birthday.
A Life in the Spotlight
Margaret Harrison, a resident at Prestbury Beaumont care home in Macclesfield, will celebrate her 102nd birthday on January 26. To mark the incredible occasion, the home is asking the local community and the wider public to help them gather 102 birthday cards, one for each year of her life. Margaret, fondly known as the local 'Dancing Queen,' enjoyed a long and successful career as a professional ballroom dancer, winning numerous championships.
Trophies and Triumphs
Her room at the care home is a testament to her glittering past, filled with trophies from her competitive days. Margaret spent much of her life performing and competing, only hanging up her dancing shoes relatively recently. She is famously proud of maintaining her flexibility, reportedly being able to do the splits well into her nineties.
The birthday celebration at Prestbury Beaumont will include a champagne reception with staff, family, friends, and fellow residents. The home's talented head chef, Nicky, will create a special birthday cake for the event.
