Fylde Ice Festival Returns to Lytham with Sculptures

The eagerly anticipated Fylde Ice Festival is set to make a triumphant return to the picturesque town of Lytham, promising a day filled with enchanting ice artistry and family-friendly entertainment. Scheduled for Saturday, February 14th, this free event will transform the town centre into a winter wonderland, offering a perfect blend of romantic ambience and festive fun for visitors of all ages.

A Sparkling Showcase of Ice Artistry

Clifton Square will serve as the central hub for the frosty festivities, where attendees can marvel at a stunning ice love seat sculpture, ideal for couples celebrating Valentine's Day or families capturing cherished photographs. The event will feature live demonstrations by the acclaimed Glacial Art Ice Sculptors, allowing visitors to witness the mesmerising skill and precision involved in creating intricate ice masterpieces right before their eyes.

Interactive Activities and Engaging Entertainment

For those keen to try their hand at this unique craft, an interactive ice carving wall will be available, providing a hands-on experience for budding artists. The popular ice trail also makes a welcome return, with seven letters cleverly hidden within ice sculptures scattered around Lytham's charming streets. Participants can collect a trail form from the Discover Fylde team in Clifton Square, hunt for the letters to reveal a secret word, and enter a prize draw for fantastic rewards.

Celebrating Local Character and Heritage

This year's sculptures will include an eye-catching tandem bicycle display outside Apex Cycles, perfect for romantic photo opportunities, alongside other creations that celebrate Lytham's distinctive heritage and community spirit. With entertainment specifically tailored for children and the event coinciding with the first day of the February half-term, it offers an ideal, cost-free family day out.

Supporting Local Businesses and Community Spirit

Councillor Jayne Nixon, lead member for tourism, leisure and culture, expressed her enthusiasm: "The Ice Festival has become a real highlight in Fylde's events calendar, and we're delighted to bring it back to Lytham. Whether you're looking for a romantic Valentine's activity, family half-term fun, or simply want to witness the incredible artistry of ice sculpting, there's something magical for everyone."

She added: "While you're exploring the trail, don't miss the chance to discover Lytham's wonderful independent shops and cafes - it's the perfect opportunity to support our local businesses while enjoying this spectacular free event!"
