Warwick Rotary Club Calls for Teams for Annual Pancake Day Race
Warwick Rotary Club Seeks Teams for Pancake Day Race

The Rotary Club of Warwick has launched a spirited appeal for participants to join its much-loved annual Pancake Day race, setting the stage for a thrilling display of flipping prowess in the heart of the town. This cherished tradition, which brings together the community in a blend of friendly rivalry and festive cheer, is set to take over Warwick's Market Square on Tuesday, February 24.

A Delicious Competition for All Ages

Rotary President Jon Wassall will officially kick off the proceedings, marking an event that has become a cornerstone of the local calendar. While the morning sessions are dedicated to primary school children, who will race with enthusiasm, organisers are now extending a warm invitation to the wider community. They are actively seeking "grown-up" teams from local businesses, shops, and offices to step up and test their pancake-tossing skills.

How to Get Involved

Teams of four can enter for a nominal fee of £10, with races scheduled for 1pm. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team, adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition. The children's races will follow at 1.30pm, expected to draw a large crowd of supportive parents, classmates, and spectators, creating a vibrant atmosphere in the square.

Community Support and Prizes

This year's event continues to enjoy the backing of Tesco, which is providing the prizes, while local pubs and coffee shops will offer warm drinks to keep participants and onlookers cosy. A trophy will be presented to each winning team, with Rotary club organiser Jackie Crampton emphasising the event's role in preserving tradition. "This is a nice way to keep a tradition alive and we are hoping for some fine spring weather on the day," she said.

Rotary Club's Commitment

Jackie Crampton added, "Warwick Rotarians are out in force to marshall the event and this is one of the events we arrange for the local community." The club's dedication ensures a well-organised and enjoyable experience for all involved, reinforcing its commitment to fostering local connections and fun.
