Historic Bus Trust Seeks Volunteers for Restoration Work in Great Harwood
The Town & District Transport Trust (TDTT) is actively recruiting volunteers to join its thriving operation in Great Harwood, Lancashire. This initiative offers a unique opportunity for local residents to engage in the preservation and restoration of historic buses and vehicles, contributing to the conservation of transport heritage for future generations.
Volunteer Roles and Requirements
This volunteer-led organisation is appealing to individuals with an interest in heritage transport, particularly those possessing skills in painting, bodywork, mechanics, or welding. Semi-retired professionals looking to apply their expertise in a rewarding and sociable environment are especially encouraged to apply. However, previous experience is not essential. Volunteers will play an active role in the Trust's work, with opportunities to attend events and enjoy memorable days out across the country as part of the team. The Trust also supports the wider community by providing transport for local celebrations and operating a free bus service on Christmas Day, facilitating family visits. Additionally, TDTT is passionate about educating younger generations on the history of transport and travel.
Upcoming Event: Great Harwood Transport Weekend
The Great Harwood Transport Weekend is scheduled to return on Saturday, September 5, and Sunday, September 6. This popular community celebration promises an impressive display of cars and trucks, family entertainment, stalls, food and drink, and more.
