Seven Birmingham restaurants were recognised at the 15th annual English Curry Awards, held on Monday, August 10, at Grand Station in Wolverhampton. The awards celebrate the best of England's curry industry, including restaurants, chefs, takeaways, and hospitality professionals from across the country.
Among the winners, Titash, located at 2278 Coventry Road in Sheldon, took home the overall title of Best of Birmingham. The restaurant, which has been serving the city since 1987, also received an Outstanding Award for Restaurant of the Year – West Midlands.
On their website, Titash states: "What sets Titash apart is our commitment to authenticity and innovation." They add that their "menu showcases the vibrant culinary traditions of India — from time-honoured classics to unique contemporary dishes." Each recipe, they say, is "crafted using techniques passed down through generations, combined with the finest ingredients sourced from across the Indian subcontinent."
Titash wins back-to-back Best of Birmingham
Jameel Ali, Titash Restaurant Manager, told BirminghamLive: "Birmingham has such a fantastic curry scene and so many great restaurants, so to be recognised as the Best in Birmingham is a huge honour for us. Titash has been part of Birmingham since 1987, so we’ve been serving our community for nearly 40 years. What makes it even more special is that this is our second year winning it back-to-back. We’re extremely proud of the whole Titash team."
The win marks a consecutive success for the restaurant, which has built a loyal following over nearly four decades. Its recognition in the West Midlands category further cements its status as a leading curry house in the region.
Other Birmingham winners and recognitions
In addition to Titash, six other Birmingham restaurants were honoured in various categories. Indian Cafe Racer received a Recognised for Excellence award in the Best of Birmingham category, while Omar Khayyam earned an Outstanding Award in the same category.
In the South Indian Restaurant of the Year category, Vaibhavam South Indian (Birmingham) was Recognised for Excellence. Basmati Restaurant (Birmingham) was named the winner of the Outstanding Restaurant of the Year category, and OMNOM (Birmingham) won New Business of the Year.
