Leicester Sketch Club Autumn Exhibition Opens Oct 30

Leicester Sketch Club is opening its annual autumn exhibition to the public, showcasing 100 original pieces of work. The event will take place at Leicester Adult Education College from Friday, October 30, until Tuesday, November 24, with free entry for all visitors.

Annual Showcase of Member Artwork

The exhibition highlights the creative output of the club's members, who develop their skills through a series of regular workshops, expert talks, and sketching trips across the county. The group draws inspiration from visits to local steam railways, historic pumping stations, quiet farms, and charming villages.

A spokesperson for the club said: “We develop our work with the help of a series of artist talks and workshops. A big part of our development is learning from each other.”

Sketching Trips and Mutual Learning

The club's approach to artistic growth is collaborative, with members frequently sharing their sketchbooks and learning from one another. The spokesperson added: “We share our sketchbooks often and go on sketching trips around the county - to the steam railway, the pumping station, farms and local towns and villages, for example.”

These excursions provide the foundation for the diverse range of artworks on display, reflecting the varied landscapes and heritage sites of Leicestershire.

Welcoming New Members and Visitors

The friendly club is always eager to welcome new members who bring fresh ideas and unique artistic perspectives. “We love to have new members who bring new talent and differing perspectives to the club,” the spokesperson said.

Visitors to the exhibition can also enjoy the popular ground-floor café, which offers lunch and snacks during their visit. The spokesperson extended an invitation to the public: “We hope you will visit our exhibition, which runs from Friday, October 30, until Tuesday, November 24, downstairs in the gallery. There is a good café on the ground floor for lunch or a snack. Enjoy the show.”
