Danny Jones is back on The Voice UK tonight alongside bandmate Tom Fletcher, but beyond the stage, his life includes a reconciled marriage, a long battle with anxiety, and a two-decade estrangement from his father. The McFly frontman, 40, first rose to fame in 2004 and continues to perform with McBusted, the supergroup formed with Busted. He also won the 24th series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2024.
Marriage with Georgia Horsley after public strain
Danny Jones remains married to Georgia Horsley, a model and former Miss England, despite a highly publicized strain in their relationship. In March 2025, he was spotted kissing his former I'm A Celebrity co-star Maura Higgins at a BRIT Awards after-party. The couple celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary earlier this month after working through their troubles.
Following the incident, Danny issued a grovelling apology, writing: “Hello everyone. Sorry it's taken me a while to post this but I've taken some time out to be with those closest to me. I want to deeply apologise to my wife and family for putting them in this situation. I love them so much and we'll continue to deal with this privately.”
Sources indicated that Georgia, 39, briefly moved out of the family home with their son Cooper before they began reconciling. The couple married in 2014.
Battling anxiety since age 18
Danny Jones has spoken openly about his struggle with anxiety, which began when he was 18, following his parents' divorce. He described panic attacks that made him feel like he was on the brink of death.
Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, he shared: “I experienced claustrophobia, coming out in cold sweats, feeling a band tightening around my chest and worrying I was having a heart attack. It's so scary and I've felt like I was dying on occasions. You can't believe your body can do that to you.”
He added: “I was also plagued with dark thoughts I couldn't control. It was affecting my whole life - my work, health and sleep. I was determined to bury it and say goodbye to it. Admitting to having anxiety was the first big step and bit by bit, I put myself back together.”
Danny said he used self-help books, therapy, and breathing techniques, along with improving his diet and fitness, to overcome the condition.
Estrangement from father Alan Jones
Danny has had no contact with his father Alan Jones, 72, for over two decades. His parents split in 2005, with Alan describing it as a 'bitter' divorce after he met another woman. Alan, who now lives in Benidorm, told MailOnline: “I feel as though he's [Danny] painted himself into a corner and he doesn't know how to get out. I think because he loves his mum so much he's protected her, and I think any reunion with me, and this is only my opinion, would upset his mum, and I don't think he wants to do that, and I understand that.”
It was reported that in 2024, after two decades of distance, they arranged to meet, but Alan pulled out at the last moment. Speaking on a podcast, Danny said they would never reunite: “I don't know him anymore, and he doesn't know me. If I heard his voice, I wouldn't even recognize it. He made the choice to have me, but I could never walk away from my own son the way he did. If my child wanted to talk to me, I'd be fighting to make it happen. My dad hasn't done that - so why should I?”
He added: “I never felt like I was his priority. He left, and that was it - I was just abandoned. One minute I idolized him, and the next, he was gone. I wish I could have said, 'Dad, talk to me. Let's figure this out.' But in my house, talking always turned into fights. I was afraid to speak up.”
The Voice UK starts tonight on ITV one at 7pm.
