First Cheshire Walking Festival Announced for Alderley Edge in April 2027
Cheshire Walking Festival Set for Alderley Edge in 2027

Bookings are officially open for the inaugural Cheshire Walking Festival, a new outdoor celebration set to take place in Alderley Edge on April 3, 2027. Organised by Guided Outdoor Adventuring CIC, a non-profit group funded by Sport England and the National Lottery, the event offers eight carefully guided routes designed for people of all ages and fitness levels.

Eight Guided Routes from the Festival Hub

All routes will start and finish at the De Trafford Arms on Congleton Road in Alderley Edge, which serves as the festival hub. This setup allows participants to gather together after their walks. Options include a gentle beginner route as well as a longer twelve-mile challenge route created in memory of Barry Clark, a dedicated local walker.

The event is funded by a £500 grant from Alderley Edge Parish Council, which helped bring the idea to life. Guided Outdoor Adventuring CIC, the organising body, aims to bring neighbours together in the fresh air through this community-focused initiative.

Proceeds to Support Three Local Charities

Proceeds from the entire day will support three causes, including Christie's Cancer Charity and Cheshire Search and Rescue. The festival is designed to be a brilliant day out for all, with route costs ranging from £5 for beginners up to £25 for longer routes.

According to the organisers, the event is intended to bring the community together while exploring the scenic local landscape. The festival is open to all, and bookings are now available.
