Horniman Plant Fair returns to Forest Hill in September

The Horniman Plant Fair returns to South London this autumn, transforming the historic hilltop venue into a haven for garden lovers. Award-winning growers from across the country will gather on the elevated lawns of the Horniman Museum and Gardens to showcase rare plant collections.

Rare plants and expert advice

Visitors can browse an exceptional selection of cottage garden favourites, shade-loving woodland plants, alpines, and striking autumnal trees. The event offers a unique alternative to standard garden centres, giving local residents access to expert advice from Chelsea Flower Show gold medallists.

Paul Seaborne, coordinator of the Plant Fairs Roadshow and owner of Pelham Plants, said: "There is nothing quite like the energy of the Horniman Plant Fair. It’s important for all of us to return to London to share the range of plants with thoughtful and knowledgeable gardeners from the area."

Guided tours and skyline views

Guests can also enjoy expert-led guided tours of the surrounding grounds, taking in sweeping views across the capital's skyline alongside the famous Grasslands Garden. Organisers strongly advise booking tickets in advance online to secure a staggered arrival slot throughout the day.

Seaborne continued: "There aren’t many opportunities in London to see this particular group of knowledgeable nurseries showcasing together. And for the nurseries themselves, setting up our stalls beneath the bandstand with the London skyline in the distance makes for a truly unbeatable atmosphere."

Event details and ticket prices

The plant fair at The Gardens, Horniman Museum and Gardens, 100 London Road, Forest Hill, London, takes place on September 5. Entry costs £12 for adults, £3 for children. Under-3s and carers enter free.
