Kirkbymoorside Music Festival 2026 Set to Grow with Enhanced Offerings
Following the triumph of the inaugural Kirkbymoorside Gateway to the Moors Music Festival last summer, the 2026 edition promises to be larger and more impressive, all while maintaining the heartfelt community warmth that defines this historic market town. Scheduled from Friday, July 31 to Sunday, August 2, the festival will center around the celebration of Yorkshire Day, offering a diverse array of events across town centre venues and Church Street.
Expanded Dance and Music Lineup
This year's festival features an increased focus on dance, with Bollywood and Line Dance classes returning by popular demand, alongside performances by the 400 Roses Morris side and a lively Ceilidh. On Saturday night, the Maestros, who previously performed as the Bootleg 60's, will make a comeback, delivering live dance music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s in what is expected to be a sold-out evening. Another anticipated sell-out is the Friday night performance by the local Kirkby Soul band.
Highlight acts include Whitby singer-songwriter John Drakes, known for his moving songs and voice like warm honey, and international star Boo Hewerdine, who is performing as a special favor to the organizers. John Drakes will be supported by the female duo Lost in Eve, while Boo Hewerdine will be joined by Hull singer-songwriter Tymisha, ensuring unforgettable evenings of music.
Showcasing Emerging and Local Talent
The festival will also spotlight emerging artists such as Casper and Emma Lynne, talented young singer-songwriters sharing the same bill. For jazz enthusiasts, John Lane will return on Saturday evening at All Saint's church. On Yorkshire Day, August 1, the Methodist Church will host a dedicated folk, acoustic, and traditional music venue, featuring ukulele and bodhrán lessons, duos Mills and Farrell and The Browns, and local folk singer Nessy Williamson, culminating in a Celtic Music Circle and a community sing-around.
Throughout the weekend, the White Swan will showcase local acts including Alkelda, Spanking Monkeys, Diva Strop, the Moorside 3, the Infernos, Grayson and Jacobs, and the Cover Ups. Additionally, an Acoustic Bar in the Memorial Hall will offer free entry and specially brewed KirkbymoorCidar, with performances by groups like the Cox Brothers, Accord, Stubbsie, Chief, and Aquarian Moon Music.
Family-Friendly and Finale Events
On Sunday morning, a free two-hour children's disco party will be held in the Memorial Hall, sponsored by Little Years Nursery. The afternoon will feature country music with the Howard Hebron Band, followed by the return of the Jackhare Ceilidh Band. The festival will conclude on Sunday evening with a stunning finale in the James Holt Concert Hall, where the Kirkbymoorside Town Brass Band will join singers and musicians to perform Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts BRASS Band, after a midday outdoor performance on Saturday.
Other notable events include the Weighton Waytes Choir returning to All Saints Church on Sunday afternoon, offering a moving repertoire from sacred to contemporary pieces. Free performances will also be available in various pubs and cafes across the town.
