The vibrant youth theatre scene in St Albans is uniting under one roof for a landmark event, raising vital funds for the next generation of local creatives. On Saturday, June 27, Trestle Arts Base will host Trestival, an exciting first-of-its-kind showcase celebrating outstanding drama work in and around the city. This special evening brings together young performers from different local companies for a collaborative celebration of youth theatre, serving as a brilliant reminder of the creativity and talent thriving in Hertfordshire.
Supporting Local Youth Arts
By purchasing a ticket, audiences will experience some of the best drama made by and for young people today, while directly supporting the future of local youth arts. The showcase features three compelling, diverse performances highlighting the incredible range of St Albans' young actors:
- Mods and Gonsters: A unique, thought-provoking devised piece created and performed by the Trestle School of Drama’s Advanced class.
- Mephisto: A powerful performance brought to the stage by talented students of The Marlborough Science Academy.
- A Lesson (from me to you): A selection of moving scenes from a trilogy written by Megan Jenkins, deeply informed by and originally performed by young people from Best Theatre Arts.
Pay What You Can Model
To ensure theatre remains accessible while raising crucial funds for youth arts programming, Trestival operates on a Pay What You Can model. Audiences are encouraged to give what they can to help keep these vital creative outlets thriving for St Albans' youth. This event marks an exciting first for Trestle Arts Base, bringing together young performers from across the local area for a shared celebration of youth theatre. It is a wonderful opportunity to experience some of the best drama made by and for young people in the city.
