American Horror Story season 13 will feature thirteen 30-minute episodes, making them the shortest in the show's history, according to Variety. The season, titled American Horror Story: 13, is set to debut on FX on September 24, 2026, with a teaser trailer released on August 13, 2026, showcasing the return of iconic characters from past seasons.
Trailer Reveals Iconic Characters and Mashup Theme
The official teaser, lasting one minute and 19 seconds, includes glimpses of Twisty the clown from Freak Show, Kai Anderson from Cult, Constance Langdon from Murder House, and Marie Laveau from Coven, among others. Ryan Murphy, speaking to Variety, confirmed the new season will be an "Avengers-style mashup" of past seasons, noting fan favorites like Murder House, Asylum, Coven, Freak Show, and Cult.
Murphy also revealed that some actors will play multiple characters from different seasons in the same scene. He said: "Some of the actors will be playing two characters from two different seasons in the same scene. Evan was, at one point, playing two different characters and talking to himself."
Episode Length and Schedule
Previous AHS episodes typically ranged from 43 to 45 minutes, with some one-offs reaching 73 minutes. In contrast, season 13 episodes will be just 30 minutes long, marking the shortest in the series. For the first time since Freak Show, the season will consist of thirteen episodes.
The first three episodes will air on FX in the US on Thursday, September 24, at 9 PM ET and 6 PM PT. Three episodes will follow on October 1, then two episodes weekly until the finale on October 29.
Cast and Returning Stars
The cast includes returning actors Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, and Emma Roberts, along with Kathy Bates, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, Leslie Grossman, and Frances Conroy.
