Moira Canal Festival Returns for 23rd Year This Weekend

The Moira Canal Festival is back once again, taking place this weekend on May 16-17. Now in its 23rd year, the event is held on the banks of the restored length of the Ashby Canal at the Moira Furnace in North West Leicestershire.

Headline Act and Entertainment

This year's headline act is Mike Woodhams, a finalist from Britain's Got Talent. His spot-on impressions of popular singers, ranging from Kate Bush to David Bowie and from Lulu to Beyonce, are brilliant and must be heard to be believed. The festival will also feature live bands, boats, classic cars, Morris dancing, and children's entertainment. Additionally, there will be a flypast by one of the classic aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

Annual Duck Race

Don't forget Mother Duck and her annual duck race. Festival-goers can pick up a flag from Mother Duck and cheer on the ducks in what has become a cherished Moira tradition.

Setting and Canal Restoration

The listed Moira Furnace and the canal create an ideal setting for the festival. This section of the canal was restored several years ago as part of the wider project to restore the Ashby Canal north of Snarestone. The Ashby Canal Trust helps maintain the canal at Moira and supports further canal restoration efforts.

Admission and Location

Admission costs £7 for adults and £3 for children aged five and above. The event is located off Furnace Lane in Moira.
