Birmingham Heritage Week 2026 will throw open the doors to hundreds of normally inaccessible locations across the city for a 10-day celebration of local history and culture. The event, running from Friday September 11 to Sunday September 20, offers free open days, guided tours, and walks, with many paid attractions also waiving entry fees for the duration.
Bookings Open Soon – Plan Ahead
Programme listings go live at midday on Saturday August 8, giving visitors a full week to browse options before bookings open on Saturday August 15. Tickets are free but must be reserved in advance, and they tend to be snapped up quickly, so early planning is essential.
Confirmed Highlights for 2026
Already confirmed for this year’s programme are Council House tours, Tyseley depot tours with Vintage Trains, hard hat tours of Moseley Road Baths, building tours of the Birmingham School of Art and School of Jewellery, visits to St Mary’s Convent in Handsworth, and open days at New Hall Mill in Sutton Coldfield.
Irene De Boo, Birmingham Heritage Week Co-ordinator, said: “Birmingham Heritage Week continues to grow in popularity, attracting thousands of people each year who want to explore the city's fascinating stories, buildings and communities.” She added that the week-long browsing period gives people more time to discover the programme and make the most of the festival.
