What to Expect at the Open Days
The mill, located in Sutton Coldfield, features an 18th-century structure that incorporates older parts. The large overshot water wheel is powered by water from the mill pond, and inside, visitors can wander through the three floors at their own pace. Friendly volunteers are on hand to explain the milling process and show the millstones turning.
The old farm buildings have been converted to house a small shop, an exhibition room, and a tearoom serving cream teas, cakes, ice creams, and hot and cold drinks. There's also a pretty garden where visitors can enjoy their refreshments in the sunshine, and the Miller's Garden offers home-grown produce and plants for sale.

According to a spokesman for the New Hall Water Mill Preservation Trust, which owns the mill and is supported by a volunteer Friends group, "It is one of only two working watermills in Birmingham and an important example of local industrial heritage."

Set within the New Hall Valley Country Park, the mill is surrounded by extensive grounds, including a meadow, millpond, and stream, making it an ideal spot for a family day out. The open days also feature visiting exhibitors selling everything from fresh bread and hot baps to craft stalls, with musical entertainment provided by local groups and children's activities.
"Flour is available for you to take home for a donation," added the spokesman, highlighting the chance to take a piece of the mill's heritage home.
