Cumbrian Author Publishes Debut Novel Echoes of Grace, Launching Family Saga Trilogy
A Cumbrian author has released her debut novel, Echoes of Grace, marking the first book in the planned Lacey Ridge trilogy. The story centres on the character of Nell, her daughter Margot, and granddaughter Grace, tracing their lives from the 1920s through various challenges and transitions.

The novel delves into the trials and tribulations of the family, including their move from Yorkshire to Lancashire. It highlights the strength of family bonds and the quiet courage that propels people forward through difficult times. Author's Journey from Storytelling to Publication
The author, Lacey, who resides in Broughton-in-Furness, has always had a passion for storytelling. "I've had a vivid imagination since childhood," she said. "Whenever I told stories, my friends would sit and listen. Somewhere deep down, I always felt there was a book in me waiting to be written."
However, life's responsibilities delayed her literary ambitions. "Between raising children, running two businesses with my husband, and later caring for my mum when she became ill, there simply wasn't the time," Lacey explained. "But eventually, life changes, and so do we." She ultimately chose to self-publish the book, taking control of her creative vision.
Creating a Writing Space and Embracing the Process
Now, Lacey has carved out the space and time to write in a carefully curated office that inspires her creativity. It took approximately two years to complete Echoes of Grace, a process she thoroughly enjoyed. Reflecting on the moment she received the first copies, she shared, "Holding the first copy of Echoes of Grace in my hands was surreal. When the first box arrived, I opened it eagerly and took the book out. I held it to my chest and just stood there, completely overwhelmed. It's a feeling that's hard to describe – years of imagination, work and persistence suddenly becoming something real."
Continuing the Saga with Upcoming Releases
The second novel in the trilogy, The Heart of Grace, is set to be released in the coming months. This installment shifts the focus to Grace and Margot as new truths emerge and the past's grip loosens. Lacey is currently writing the final book, The Legacy of Grace, which will conclude the family's epic journey.
