Newport is set to host a groundbreaking literary event as Readers and Rebels, a new convention, prepares to take over ICC Wales on May 8, 2027. The event is expected to attract up to 1,000 book enthusiasts, alongside more than 100 authors, independent booksellers, artists, and bookish small businesses from across the UK. Readers and Rebels was founded by three indie writers, including a bestselling Welsh author, with the goal of bringing a large-scale literary convention to local readers without the need to travel to major hubs like London or Birmingham. The organizers aim to establish the gathering as an annual event, shining a spotlight on the Welsh creative community while positioning Newport as a premier destination for book lovers.
