Historical Note: Guy Fawkes Execution
On this day in history, 1606, British provocateur Guy Fawkes was executed in London. He was one of the conspirators in the Gunpowder Plot, which aimed to blow up Parliament and assassinate King James I in protest against the repression of Roman Catholics. This event remains a significant part of British history, commemorated annually on Bonfire Night.
