Bluey fans in the West Midlands have a double treat this weekend as Smyths Toys Superstores launch a free giveaway and a special character appearance. On Saturday, August 22, from 9am, all Smyths Toys stores across the UK will hand out free bubble wands to customers, while stocks last. Then, on Sunday, August 23, Bluey herself will appear at the Sears Retail Park store in Solihull, one of only two stores in the country to host the character this weekend.
Free Bluey Bubble Wand Giveaway
The bubble wand giveaway is part of the "Bluey: Playdates with Friends" promotion, which Smyths Toys describes as a celebration of playtime. A spokesman for Smyths Toys said: "Every playdate is better with bubbles, and that’s why Bluey: Playdates with Friends is coming to Smyths Toys Superstores across the UK & Ireland with an extra special giveaway."

Bluey Appearance at Solihull Sears Retail Park
The Solihull store, located at Sears Retail Park, will be the only West Midlands location where families can meet Bluey in person. The other appearance is scheduled for Beckton in London on Saturday, August 22. At both stores, visitors can expect a "fun-packed day" featuring Bluey-inspired games, a toy play area, and special photo moments.
According to the spokesman, the event is designed to offer families a memorable experience, combining the giveaway with interactive activities. The Solihull appearance on Sunday provides an opportunity for local families to meet the popular cartoon character without travelling far.
Bluey x Tonies Collaboration and West Midlands Stores
In addition to the giveaway, Smyths Toys announced a collaboration between Bluey and Tonies, with preorders for the Bluey x Tonie range opening in August 2026 via Smyths Toys Superstores. The full Bluey range is available in-store and online.
For those unable to visit the Solihull store on Sunday, there are several other Smyths Toys Superstores in the West Midlands, including Oldbury, Castle Vale, Merry Hill, Walsall, and Wolverhampton. These stores will participate in the bubble wand giveaway on Saturday, but will not host a Bluey appearance.
The event is part of a broader weekend of family activities in the region, with Birmingham Heritage Week also running concurrently. Families are encouraged to check store opening times and arrive early to secure their free bubble wand, as quantities are limited.
