Guidance for a Smooth Visit

Droitwich Spa Lido, one of the UK's last remaining open-air saltwater swimming pools, has released a set of rules and guidance for visitors during hot weather. Located just 40 minutes from Birmingham, the lido expects to be very busy as temperatures rise, and officials are urging guests to plan ahead.

The 40-metre pool, set in parkland with a wet play area for children, has seen increased demand during warm spells. A spokesman for the lido said: "With another spell of warm weather forecast, we're expecting to be very busy over the coming days. To help everyone have the best possible experience, please take a moment to read the following."

Booking and Arrival Rules

Public swimming sessions can be booked up to two days in advance, but Lido Pass or Booking Card holders benefit from extended advance booking of seven days. The lido stresses that arriving on time is crucial to keep queues moving and ensure smooth entry. Visitors are advised to bring plenty of water, wear sunscreen and reapply it throughout their visit, as shade is limited. Hats and sunglasses are also recommended.

Pool Safety and Courtesy

The spokesman added: "Please follow pool rules. Our lifeguards and team are here to keep everyone safe. Please listen to any instructions they give during your visit." The lido also emphasises kindness: "Be kind. We understand that busy days can sometimes mean queues, waiting times or sessions reaching capacity. Our team works incredibly hard to give everyone a safe and enjoyable visit and we ask that all customers treat both our staff and fellow visitors with kindness and respect." This extends to online interactions, with abusive or offensive language not tolerated.

Parking and Travel Advice

Visitors are advised to allow extra time for parking and travel, as the lido and surrounding area can become very busy during hot weather. The lido is located at Lido Park, Worcester Rd, Droitwich Spa, Droitwich WR9 8AA, and is accessible via a 40-minute drive from Birmingham on the M5. A café on site serves snacks and ice creams, and a new splash pad is available in the nearby park.

The lido concluded: "Thank you so much for your patience and support. We can't wait to welcome you for another fantastic week at the Lido!"
