Harry Styles Fights Back Tears in Emotional Tribute to Liam Payne at Final Wembley Show
Harry Styles Pays Tribute to Liam Payne at Wembley

Harry Styles paused his final Wembley show on Saturday to pay an emotional tribute to his One Direction bandmates, including the late Liam Payne. The Golden singer fought back tears as his 12-night stint at the venue came to an end, reflecting on his rise to fame and acknowledging that he 'wouldn't be here tonight' without Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and his 'dear friend' Liam.

Formation and Legacy of One Direction

The band was formed on ITV's The X Factor in 2010 and went on to sell more than 70 million records worldwide before announcing an indefinite hiatus in 2016. Addressing the sold-out crowd, Harry said: "I wouldn't be here tonight without four friends of mine. I want to thank Niall, Louis, Zayn, and my dear friend, Liam!"

Liam Payne's Family in Attendance

The emotional moment was made more poignant because Liam's parents Geoff and Karen, sister Ruth, and nephew were in the audience, according to The Mirror. Liam, who was born in Wolverhampton, tragically died in October 2024 after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina.

Nod to Taylor Swift

In addition to his One Direction tribute, Harry also appeared to give a nod to his ex, Taylor Swift, who married Travis Kelce over the weekend. Harry's 'surprise song' of the evening was Two Ghosts, which is reportedly about the Opalite singer, whom he briefly dated in 2012. The song's lyrics include 'same lips red, same eyes blue', and the chorus states: 'We're not who we used to be, we're just two ghosts standing in the place of you and me'.
