Harry Styles Thanks Liam Payne in Moving Wembley Tribute

Harry Styles closed his record-breaking Wembley Stadium residency for the Together, Together tour with an emotional tribute to his late One Direction bandmate Liam Payne. During the final show on 5 July 2026, Styles addressed the massive crowd, thanking his former bandmates and singling out Payne, who died in October 2024 at age 31.

Styles said: "Four friends of mine who were a massive part of this journey. I want to thank Niall, Louis, Zayn and my dear friend Liam." The tribute came after a historic run of 12 nights at the iconic London venue, surpassing all previous records for a single artist.

Surprise Appearance and Family Presence

Earlier in the show, Styles was surprised on stage by his sister Gemma, who congratulated him on the record. Fans also noted that Liam Payne's parents, his sister Ruth, and her son were in attendance at the final performance, adding to the emotional weight of the evening.

During the first night at Wembley, Styles had reflected on coming to the venue 16 years ago with his sister to audition for The X Factor at Wembley Arena. The final night brought that journey full circle as he acknowledged the group that formed in 2010 on the show.

Styles' Reserved Grief

Styles has been cautious about discussing Payne's death publicly. In an earlier interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, he explained the difficulty of grieving in the public eye. "Full transparency, I struggle with that a little bit even," Styles said. "I think there was a period when he passed away where I really struggled with kind of acknowledging how strange it is to have people kind of own part of your grief in a way."

Shortly after Payne's death, Styles shared a heartfelt Instagram tribute, writing: "I am truly devastated by Liam's passing. His greatest joy was making other people happy, and it was an honour to be alongside him as he did it. Liam lived wide open, with his heart on his sleeve, he had an energy for life that was infectious. He was warm, supportive, and incredibly loving. The years we spent together will forever remain among the most cherished years of my life. I will miss him always, my lovely friend."

Tour Continues to Brazil

Following the Wembley residency, Styles will head to Brazil for the next leg of the Together, Together tour. The record-breaking 12-night stand at Wembley Stadium cements his status as one of the biggest live acts in the world, while his tribute to Payne provided a poignant moment for fans and family alike.
