A glamping retreat in the Midlands has been named among the top three in the UK by Visit England. Kaya at Blackhill Farm, located on a 'dark sky reserve' in Herefordshire, allows guests to enjoy stargazing from an outdoor bath. The site features two yurts and a cabin, along with thoughtful extras such as art materials and an easel beneath the bed, handmade furniture, and a cozy aga.
This adult-only hideaway is a finalist in the Camping, Glamping and Holiday Park of the Year category, competing against Clawford Lakes Resort and Spa in Devon and Bredon View Glamping Retreat in Worcestershire. It promises a way to 'naturally slow your pulse,' with the 'heavy lifting of switching off already done for you.'
Escape for Parents
Emily Tokwe, co-runner of Kaya at Blackhill Farm, said: 'It feels a pretty big deal for one tiny family hacking it out in the borderlands! We find that many of our guests are escapee parents looking for that much-needed downtime. Our entire ethos at Kaya is centred around slow living and reconnecting with oneself; we take great pride in sending many a rejuvenated parent back home to the glorious fray feeling completely restored.'
Situated between the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Brecon Beacons National Park, the farm is close to Offa's Dyke Path. All three units feature luxury bathing options, fully equipped kitchens, ensuite bathrooms with flushing toilets, BBQs, and firepits. A Michelin Guide pub is nearby, and there are ample walking and hiking opportunities.
Alternative Accommodations
Other places to stay in Herefordshire include Frontier Cabin in Craswall, near Hay-on-Wye, a quirky lodge with a wood burner on a 17-acre animal farm sanctuary, and Woodpecker Cottage in Orleton Common, surrounded by informal gardens, woods, and a stream.
VisitEngland stated that the finalists represent the highest standards across accessibility, accommodation, attractions, experiences, food and drink, and business events, showcasing the strength and diversity of English tourism. The winners will be announced on June 3 at Aerospace Bristol.
Kaya at Blackhill Farm is located in Craswall, Herefordshire, HR2 0PH, approximately two hours by car from Birmingham via the M5, traffic permitting.
